The Vinegar Weed Killer Recipe That Actually Works

The Vinegar Weed Killer Recipe That Actually Works

Safe, Effective, and Cheap

If you have weeds growing in driveway cracks, sidewalks, or patios, you do not need harsh chemicals to get rid of them. This viral recipe uses household ingredients to desiccate weeds in hours.

The Magic Recipe

  • 1 Gallon of White Vinegar (or Horticultural Vinegar for extra strength)
  • 1 Cup of Table Salt
  • 1 Tablespoon of Liquid Dish Soap (like Dawn)

How it Works

The acetic acid in the vinegar draws moisture out of the plant. The salt prevents the roots from taking up new water, and the dish soap acts as a surfactant, breaking the surface tension so the mixture sticks to the leaves rather than rolling off.

Application Tips

Spray on a hot, sunny day. The sun accelerates the drying process. Warning: This is a non-selective herbicide. It will kill grass and flowers too, so only use it where you want NOTHING to grow (like gravel paths or concrete cracks).
