How to Restring Your Weed Eater in Under 2 Minutes

How to Restring Your Weed Eater in Under 2 Minutes

The Trimmer String Struggle

Restringing a weed eater is notoriously frustrating. It tangles, jams, or feeds unevenly. But with the right technique, it is a 2-minute job.

The Setup

Cut a length of high-quality trimmer line (usually 10-15 feet, depending on your spool size). Fold it exactly in half to find the center.

The Winding Process

Remove the spool from the head. Hook the center loop of your line into the notch on the center divider of the spool. Now, wind BOTH lines simultaneously in the direction indicated by the arrow on the spool (usually clockwise). Keep the line tight and neat, side-by-side, avoiding crisscrossing.

The Reassembly

When you have about 6 inches of line left, snap the ends into the holding notches on the outer rim of the spool. Insert the spool back into the head, thread the lines through the metal eyelets, and pull sharply to release them from the holding notches. Replace the cap, and you are ready to trim!
